Our state government has deserted us,” informed a citizen over phone. He further added that Assam police has damaged furniture and wall of the school. The villagers alleged that due to deployment of inadequate force, Assam official could dare to take such action. “The local authorities knew that Assam will try to disrupt the election process. Despite knowing it, only 6 policemen were deployed at polling station. The 6 were no match to around 300 police personnel of Assam. Also on 15th of this month, one platoon of CRPF had come at the polling station. However they left afterwards and immediately few hours’ later Assam police arrived. Why did CRPF team left,” questioned a local citizen. Though situation is normal, the agony of seeing Assam police patrolling inside Arunachal territory is hurting the sentiment of locals.

India should be assertive in placing their points: Sanjoy
NEW DELHI, May 18: Arunachal Pradesh Member of Parliament Takam Sanjoy on Saturday urged the Indian Government to be assertive in asking China to stay away from his state.
“We are optimistic that the Indian Government will be very assertive on various issues affecting the two nations. All that we would ask from the Indian Government is that talks are held on the border issue. India should be assertive in placing their points," Sanjoy said.
"The recent incursion by China hasn’t been of good design, although with the intervention of the Prime Minister himself with the dialogue process, all we want our PM to clarify, is that no portion of Arunachal Pradesh belongs to China, and they should keep away from India,” Sanjoy added.
On an emotional note, he further said: “We are Indians, and no force in the world can separate us, may be the roots are different, but still we are a part of this country,” he said.
Commenting on the issue of stapled visas, Sanjoy said: “In connection with the stapled visa, the Government of India should be very clear, and should continue having dialogues with China. Hence, whichever visa is used for other states in the country, the same visas should be used for Arunachal Pradesh, as we are a part of India. No need for India to accept stapled visas.”
Sanjoy's comments came on the eve of Chinese Premier Li's visit to India from Sunday.

The women, with the help of local police have recently carried out a series of operation against illegal selling of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), narcotics like Opium and Ganja, tobacco products and other contraband substances in the shops and other business establishments here.
“It is very unfortunate to see that the local Gaon Burahs, PRI leaders and NGOs remained silent over the serious issue for long. Our children are stepping toward a bleak future under the grip of hooch, narcotics and contraband drugs which are easily available in the local shops,” said the ABK women wing members.
In the earlier too, Woman Welfare Association (WWA) of Debing village under Ruksin circle moved the local administration to check illegal selling of the hooch and other tobacco products in the rural shops on regular basis.

ITANAGAR, May 18: Training for the counting supervisors and counting assistants for Itanagar municipality election was held here today.
Addressing the trainees as resource person SC Debnath said that counting is the most important part of election and asked them to conduct the process very carefully.
MRO Bokar Basar asked all to be thorough with the process of counting and handling of the EVMs.
The Master Trainers Asim Bhowmick and Kalyan Dutta briefed on the operating principle of the EVMs and rules and regulations to be followed while counting. Red letter day in history of Indian mountaineering
ITANAGAR, May 18: Today was a red letter day in the history of Indian mountaineering as six climbers from North East, including Anshu Jamsenpa of Arunachal Pradesh successfully climbed Mt Everest early in the morning.
They started their summit push from the South Col at 8 pm last night and climbed whole night to reach the roof top of the world in the early morning today.
This achievement made Anshu to become the first Indian woman to climb the highest peak in the world thrice. She already holds the record of being the only mother in the world to reach the summit of Mt Everest twice in 10 days.
Other team members, who successfully reached the summit, were N Chingkheinganba of Manipur, David Zohmangaiha of Mizoram, Tarun Saikia of Assam, Kazi Sherpa of Sikkim and Wangsuk Myrthong of Meghalaya.
David Zohmangaiha, Tarun Saikia and Wangshuk Myrthong became first from their respective state to stand on the summit of Everest while N Chingkheinganba, 16, became the youngest Everester in the country.
Climber Manish Deka from Assam and Athokpam Robert from Manipur had to abort their summit push from South Col (26,200 ft). Climber Waribam James of Manipur was evacuated by chopper due to worsening health problem while negotiating the climb between Camp 2 and Camp 3 (24500 ft). Last climber Puyamcha Mohon is slated to go for his final summit attempt tonight.
Yesterday, three climbers, including Nima Lama of Arunachal Pradesh successfully climbed the highest mountain peak.
The team has now started descending from Mt. Everest, said the elated leader of the expedition Dr L Surjit Singh from Everest Base Camp over satellite phone.
The expedition team comprised of mountaineers, exclusively from North East India and was organized by Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association. The expedition was sponsored by North Eastern Council, Shillong and supported by Planning Department, Govt. of Manipur.
